The Process
How Crowd Dental works
Crowd Dental is a membership community. Your membership keeps you active and eligible to participate. When you need care, you visit a network dentist for a diagnosis and an itemized treatment plan/estimate, then submit it through the member portal for review. If your request is eligible and funds are available, we confirm support before major non-emergency treatment is scheduled. When funding is ready, you return for treatment—at checkout you pay your first $300 for the approved need, present your Crowd Dental member card, and we transfer the approved eligible amount directly to the office so the remaining eligible balance can be processed. Support is not guaranteed. Crowd Dental is not insurance.
Six step process
The Crowd Dental Process: From Plan to Funding
-
Step 1: Maintain Active Membership
Stay current on your membership to remain eligible.
-
Step 2: Visit a Network Dentist (Diagnosis First)
Get a diagnosis and an itemized treatment plan/estimate.
-
Step 3: Submit Your Treatment Plan
Submit the estimate and required documentation through the member portal.
-
Step 4: Review + Fundraising Window
We review eligibility using published guidelines and open/allocate a community fundraising window.
-
Step 5: Funding Ready → Schedule Treatment
When funding is confirmed, you schedule treatment with your provider.
-
Step 6: Payment at Checkout (Real-time)
At checkout, you pay your first $300. Present your Crowd Dental member card, and Crowd Dental transfers the approved eligible amount directly to the office so the receptionist can process the remaining eligible balance.
Timeline and review
We review each request using written guidelines and real people. Here is what usually happens when you submit a need.
Typical review timeline
01
Get a diagnosis + itemized estimate from a Crowd Dental network provider.
02
Submit your treatment plan and required documents through the member portal.
03
Review for eligibility against published guidelines (typically 3–5 business days after a complete submission).
04
Fundraising / allocation period opens if eligible; you’ll be notified when funding is confirmed.
05
-
Schedule treatment once funding is ready—at checkout you pay your first $300 and the approved eligible amount is transferred to the office.
What happens if something is not eligible?
If your request isn’t eligible, we’ll tell you why in plain language and what—if anything—can be done next. Some requests are not eligible because they fall under our 6-month major treatment policy (major aesthetic cases, dentures/partials/full arches, and other major non-urgent care aren’t processed until you’ve completed six months of active membership), because the documentation is incomplete, or because the request doesn’t meet our published guidelines.
When a request is eligible, we work hard to help you get funded—but support depends on community participation, available funds, your membership standing, and your history of supporting others in the model. If funding isn’t available right away, we may keep the request open for additional fundraising, suggest alternatives or phased treatment options from your provider, or guide you on what to submit to strengthen the request for a future review. Support is not guaranteed, and Crowd Dental is not insurance.
Important notice
No surprise debt: Members should not begin major non-emergency treatment until approval and funding are confirmed. Crowd Dental is not insurance and support is not guaranteed.
